Facebook will pay users who download its Study app, which was developed to track users’ phone activities.
The Study application, which will process various data of users and analyze their usage habits, will be described as a ‘new market research application’. The application will collect data about the applications that users have installed on their phones and the time they spend on them, the country they are in, the device and network features they use. In the application, which will be optional, information such as user ID, password, photos, videos and messages will not be accessible. The data obtained by the Study application will not be served to third-party applications and will not be used for advertising purposes.

The application, which can be downloaded by those using the Android operating system on their phones, will not be accessible to users under the age of 18. The age of the users will be checked through their Facebook account. Facebook will also receive users’ bank account information during the Study application membership phase and will make payments to those who allow their data to be used. The application will be available in the US and India first, and will be available in other countries in the future. In a statement made by Facebook, it was promised that user data will be stored securely and that this data will only be used for market research and to create better products.
